Chapter 1 The problems and its Background Introduction In today’s competitive environment, developing and attaining standards or competence for all teachers has increased. Competencies are defined as the set of knowledge, skills and experience necessary for future, which manifests in activities (Katane et.al. 44). The standards and competence of teachers creates a professional and effective environment of â€Å"best teaching† practice. They allow schools to confidently make systems, policies and procedures to uphold and guarantee high operational quality that leads to exceptional records and management performance (Hamdan,2010). Teachers’ performance evaluation is definitely not a new trend. Traditional operational measures of internal efficiency are not sufficient. HR departments must now be able to demonstrate the value of their strategic contributions (Cabrera Cabrera, 2003). Human Resource Development is organized learning activities arranged within an organization in order to improve performance and/or personal growth for the purpose of improving the job, the individual, and/or the organization. It includes the areas of training and development, career development, and organization development. This is related to Human Resource Management -- a field which includes Human Resource research and information systems, union/labor relations, employee assistance, compensation/benefits, selection and staffing, performance management systems, Human Resource planning, and organization or job design. The goal of HRD is to improve the performance of the organizations by maximizing the efficiency and performance of the people. It will develop the knowledge and skills, actions and standards, motivation, incentives, attitudes and work environment (Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, 1995). This paper focuses on discrimination laws that help women and men, who are treated differently because of their sexuality, race, religion and gender identity. Federal and State laws forbid discrimination against race, religion, sexual orientation, sex, and gender identity even though it still happens to many people. (Employment Law Handbook. (n.d.).) Discrimination Laws Organizations can t discriminate against individuals because of components such as race, sex, pregnancy, and/or handicap. (Wikipedia. (n.d.)) There are government laws that everybody must follow that are†¦show more content†¦(n.d.). ) Americans With Disabilities Act protects people with disabilities from employers who discriminate against them. (What Laws Make Discrimination in Employment Illegal? (n.d.).) This means that the employer has to employ the person with the disabilities in any aspect of employment, including interviews, testing, job assignments, evaluations, leave, discipline, training, benefits, medical exams, applications and firing. (Nolo.com. (n.d.).) Equal Pay Act requires workers to be paid the same amount for equal work. Employees must do the equal amount as the other, under similar working conditions, effort, responsibility and equal skills. If the workers have different job titles then they may have equal pay. Immigration Reform and Control Act prohibits applicants and employees to be fired or not hired by employers because of their citizenship or national origin. Man For All Seasons By Bolt A few of the many qualities of friendship include unconditional loyalty, honesty, trust, and respect. In the play A Man For All Seasons, by Robert Bolt, Sir Thomas More demonstrates all of these qualities that display friendship, and the basis of a good, honest man. Richard Rich, on the other hand, contributes very contrasting views and displays little to no qualities of friendship or loyalty at all. Sir Thomas More may be considered a true friend and good, honest man due the fact that he uses qualities of loyalty, honesty, trust, and generosity with whomever he is dealing with throughout his daily life. He clearly demonstrates his loyalty to both God and the King, Henry VIII, simultaneously without infrinding on boundries between them. The whole play shows More's loyalty to God, ultimately he died for his beliefs because they were not accepted. His loyalty to God is shown by his decision to remain Catholic and true(in his mind) to his God, though his King was creating a radical new Anglican religion. He disagreed with the King's decision to go against the Catholic church, but kept his opinions silent except towards his ruler out of respect and loyalty. His loyalty to the King is also evident when he uses his judgment and chooses not to open the letter he received from Chapuys, for fear that his devotion to the King would be brought into question, "...This is a letter from King Charles; I want you to see it's not been opened. I have declined it. You see the seal has not been broken?..."(Page 64) More's trust in the King is evident because he is confident that the King will not pressure him into making any judgment he is not comfortable with, "...Your conscience is your own affair; but you are my Chancellor! There, you have my word-I'll leave you out of it. But I don't take it kindly, Thomas, and I'll have no opposition!...Lie low if you will, but I'll brook no opposition- no words, no signs, no letters, no pamphlets - mind that, Thomas - no writings against me!"(Page 31). More is a generous man, for instance giving Rich the silver goblet. More knew if he kept it, it could be used to incriminate him in the court of law. He could have sold it, but instead gave it away, out of kindness and generosity. More's giving attitude was also demonstrated when he offers Rich the teaching position. Richard Rich is everything that More is not. He is mercenary and defines himself by position and possession rather than in his morals and values. Rich cares little for friendship and loyalty, and cares only for personal gain and profit. He is mercenary because everything he does involves some result that will promote him. He is always putting his needs and wants before the needs of others. More offered Rich an honorable and respectable job as a teacher, but Rich refused it because he believed it was meaningless and unimportand, and there was no chance at making substantial amounts of money with it. It would not improve his social status as much as he desired. Rich was using More to gain position, he feigns loyalty and friendship towards More for personal gain."...A friend of Sir Thomas and still no office?"(Page 3). Rich will not admit to being More's friend, even when More is on death row. He does not acknowledge or want to think that More helped him out at all, he turns his back on him and lets him dies, "He isn't really my friend..."(Page 21). He does not acknowledge or want to think that More helped him out at all. Rich defines himself solely on material items than the things that should be important to him, such as friendship, love, family, belief, and morals. He will do anything to give himself a name. He betrayed his friendship with More to prosecute him by lying on the stand. This gave him the popularity he desired, and knew if More went down, he could gain position, therefore his loyalty to More was never prevalent. By Rich prosecuting against More and lying on the stand, he was appointed the Attorney-General for Wales, More was astonished that anyone could lie and only be appointed the Attorny-General of Wales, "For Wales? Why, Richard, its profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world...But for Wales-!"(Page 95).

Some writers dont outline at all, while others extensively outline a book project before writing the first page. Some plan chapters by outline their novels on the wall of their office (William Faulkner, were looking at you!), while others like J.K. Rowling compose an extensive scene list like the one were going to discuss in this article.A rudimentary scene list handwritten by J.K. Rowling and used to write the fifth Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.1. A scene list is your novel in Excel spreadsheet formThe easiest way to think of a scene list is to think of it as a detailed outline of your novel in spreadsheet format. Obviously, this can be done by hand (as J.K. Rowling proves) but a much easier way to make it happen is on an Excel spreadsheet.2. A scene list ensures your novel contains necessary elementsThis worksheet for writers, provided by author Jami Gold, is a great resource to help you determine the exact elements needed for each scene to write a well-written novel. Gaspard's purpose in the novel is dissimilar to that of Miss Pross. Gaspard is used to help the reader understand how the majority of the French population was feeling prior to the revolution. Gaspard and the other peasants were treated, by the aristocracy, as if they were disgusting rodents. When Gaspard's son is run over by the Marquis, all the Marquis is worried about, is if his horses or his coach were hurt or damaged. Gaspard's anger and realization of how he is being treated causes him to rebel and kill the Marquis. The one murder symbolizes the animosity of all the peasants and is a taste of what is to come with the revolution.
